FIRE number calculator

Your FIRE number isn't just "expenses ÷ 4%." It's that, plus the house you still want to buy and the years your kids will cost more than usual. This adds all three.

4% is the classic assumption — lower is more conservative.

How long the core corpus lasts

This adds the house and the kids' expense as lump sums on top of a standard core-FIRE corpus — a simplification, not a full cash-flow plan. It ignores taxes, existing savings earmarked for these goals, and the fact that a paid-off house lowers your monthly expenses. Treat the number as a starting point, not a target to the rupee.
"How long it lasts" simulates only the core corpus — the house and kids' money is assumed spent as a lump sum, not left invested. Each year's withdrawal grows with inflation; the remaining balance grows at the return rate above. Real markets don't move in a straight line, so treat this as a sanity check, not a guarantee.
